Primary Role
Position: Director of AI – Transportation
Location: United States (various locations including Irvine, Round Rock, Charlotte, etc.)
Role Overview
This is a high-impact leadership position in HDR's Transportation Business Group (TBG). The role focuses on defining and executing the strategic vision for AI capabilities in transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee TBG AI Strategy
- Coordinate AI implementation across TBG
- Advance AI governance and best practices
- Foster AI talent and organizational readiness
- Engage with clients, present proposals, and represent HDR in industry forums
- Measure and communicate AI value
Additional Tasks
- Manage team utilization and project contributions
- Liaise with HDR’s AI Task Force
- Establish high-value AI partnerships
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field
Experience
- 5+ years in AI solutions for transportation
- 7+ years in consulting architecture & engineering
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with AI/ML libraries, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), MLOps, data privacy/security
- Familiarity with AEC standards, design software, and digital workflows (preferred)
Leadership & Communication
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Capable of managing multiple projects
- Aligns with HDR’s values of integrity, collaboration, and innovation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with emerging AI technologies like large language models, digital twins
- Knowledge of data governance, IP, and vendor management
- Involvement in AI strategy or digital transformation initiatives
Required Skills
- Ability to prioritize and develop high-performance teams
- Data set management, data compliance, data cataloging
- Statistical analysis, machine learning techniques
- Data architecture skills (data lakes, warehouses)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Software proficiency (Microsoft Office, programming languages)
