Job Title: Machine Learning Engineer - Generative AI
Location: Remote or Hybrid (United States or Canada)
Position Overview
Autodesk is transforming the AEC industry by integrating AI into our products, enhancing applications with cloud-native capabilities, data at scale, edge computing, AI-based solutions, and advanced 3D modeling and graphics. Our flagship products include AutoCAD, Revit, Construction Cloud, and Forma (Industry Cloud).
As a Machine Learning Engineer on the AEC Solutions team, you will collaborate to build foundation models and generative AI tools tailored for the AEC industry, focusing on design data interpretation and workflow enhancement.
Reporting Line: Machine Learning Manager, AEC Solutions Team
Location: Near Boston, MA or Toronto, Canada, with support for hybrid work.
Responsibilities
- Architect and guide scalable data pipelines and architectures.
- Develop preprocessing, augmentation, and content understanding techniques for large-scale multimodal datasets (text, 2D/3D geometry, structured data).
- Develop, optimize, and ensure scalability and reliability of production-level ML solutions.
- Establish best practices for model experimentation, evaluation, and optimization.
- Write high-performance code for production ML pipelines.
- Conduct requirements analysis and document solutions.
- Set technical direction by identifying challenges and creating solutions.
- Communicate findings through quantitative and qualitative insights with visual presentations.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of knowledge sharing.
Minimum Qualifications
- MS in Machine Learning, AI, Math, Statistics, CS, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in ML engineering or related areas, with leadership and hands-on skills.
- Expertise in deep learning architectures (Transformers, CNNs, GANs) and ML frameworks (PyTorch, Lightning, Ray).
- Experience with LLMs, embedding models, vector databases, RAG systems in production.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, system architectures, especially 2D/3D geometric data.
- Familiarity with AWS services, SageMaker Studio.
- Fundamentals in computer science, distributed computing, algorithms.
- Proven capability to translate theory into prototypes.
- Autonomous work style and collaborative skills.
- Strong technical communication.
Other Qualifications
- Background in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction.
- Experience with data preparation, hyper-parameter tuning, acceleration, and optimization.
- Proficiency in distributed systems like Spark, Ray.
- Experience deploying high-scale ML algorithms.

Salary Transparency
- US starting range: $166,600 - $269,500
- Compensation includes salary, bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.
