AI/ML Engineer - Human-AI Collaboration

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and applied data science for a grant-funded project focused on human-AI collaboration.

Project Overview

Developing and evaluating intelligent systems to foster effective interactions between human users and AI. The engineer will work closely with the primary researcher, contributing to the design, implementation, experimentation, and communication of findings related to AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Explore image, video, and animation generation GenAI tools for content creation.
• Investigate state-of-the-art open and closed source LLMs for specific content generation tasks.
• Fine-tune and evaluate NLP/LLM models for interactive, AI-driven content generation.
• Benchmark various GenAI and LLM tools on curated datasets.
• Create embeddings of content for fast retrieval.
• Design and implement data pipelines for model training and evaluation.
• Collaborate with research and development teams to align AI capabilities with user interaction goals.
• Support feasibility studies through experiments, benchmarks, and technical documentation for grant applications.
• Regularly meet with the primary researcher to discuss progress and next steps.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen (eligible for federal grant)
• Basic data science training
• Extensive experience with LLMs, animation, and video generation tools
• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks
• Proven record of real-world AI implementation projects
• Master's or PhD in a relevant field
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to follow directions
• Experience with complex AI systems
• Familiarity with healthcare, education, or content development domains (a plus)
• Comfortable working in a research-focused, grant-based environment
