Role Overview: AI/ML Engineer
AI/ML Engineers are responsible for coding and developing software that deploys machine learning models and algorithms into production environments. You will create high-impact AI/ML solutions across various UnitedHealth Group businesses, including UnitedHealthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI/ML models, including NLP, NLU, semantic understanding, intent classification, computer vision, deep learning, and ASR.
- Present complex analytics results to leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure high-quality code delivery across applications, products, and services.
- Evaluate new tools, techniques, and strategies for organizational efficiency.
- Develop documentation, research, maintenance, and innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and design optimal solutions.
- Review ideas for AI/ML models and engineering designs.
- Work with Product Owners to support the full lifecycle delivery via CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve engineering culture, lead teams, and develop talent.
- Set technical patterns, govern technical debt, and align solutions with enterprise architecture.
- Lead digital experience projects, especially Voice Bot development, to enhance provider client interactions.
- Support deployment, monitor performance, resolve issues, and innovate continuously.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related experience.
- 12+ years leading software engineering teams.
- 8+ years with Agile methodologies.
- 5+ years in cloud solutions (Azure/AWS).
- 5+ years programming in Python, Java, Node.js.
- Experience with voice bots (AWS Lex, Dialogflow, Bot Framework).
- Solid NLP and voice recognition knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science.
- 7+ years data science experience.
- Knowledge of emerging voice models and industry trends.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lead complex projects.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $124,500 - $239,400 per year.
