The Opportunity
Abbott's Diabetes division is focused on empowering people with diabetes through innovative products that provide accurate health data. We are revolutionizing glucose monitoring with new sensing technology.
Role: AI Engineer/Architect
This position involves:
- Designing, developing, and implementing GenAI solutions.
- Working directly with LLMs, APIs, and AI pipelines.
- Building, coding, integrating, and optimizing AI systems.
What You'll Do
- Build and integrate AI solutions using LLM APIs (OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, Mistral).
- Fine-tune LLM behavior via prompt engineering and guardrail development.
- Design scalable APIs (FastAPI, Flask) for AI features.
- Lead performance tuning and system scalability across mobile and cloud platforms.
- Implement safety best practices, focusing on hallucination mitigation and security.
- Manage costs associated with large-scale cloud LLM operations.
- Collaborate and communicate AI strategies with legal, compliance, and executive teams.
- Execute tactical AI initiatives across multiple products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree + 10+ years or Master's Degree + 7+ years in software architecture.
- 4–8 years of hands-on AI/LLM experience.
- Strong Python skills.
- Experience with cloud-based LLMs.
- Testing, debugging, and UI testing proficiency.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to design for cost efficiency and scalability.
- Strategic thinking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in GenAI agents and LLM meshes.
- Background in enterprise architecture.
- Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Pay Range: $111,300 – $222,700.
