Johnson Controls is at the forefront, providing AI-enabled enterprise solutions that optimize energy use, generate insights, and enable predictive maintenance. Our Data Strategy & Intelligence team seeks a skilled Data Scientist to develop and deploy machine learning, Generative AI, and Timeseries analysis models.
The Role
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in machine learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and time series models. Experience with deploying these models in production environments is essential.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks
- Develop and maintain AI algorithms within digital products
- Use data from commercial buildings to:
- Optimize energy consumption, occupancy, and reduce CO2 emissions
- Improve user comfort
- Generate actionable insights for building operations
- Create data-driven recommendations for stakeholders
- Ensure AI solutions are robust, repeatable, and well-designed
- Apply machine learning concepts to practical applications
How You Will Do It
- Collaborate within the AI team
- Partner with product managers on new AI features
- Explore datasets for potential applications
- Design and develop ML, Generative AI, and Time Series solutions based on business needs
- Integrate AI into existing products
- Research cutting-edge generative AI techniques
- Maintain AI model pipelines
- Pre-train and fine-tune ML models on GPU clusters
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields
- 7+ years experience in developing and deploying ML models in production
- Expertise in Python and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.)
- Strong understanding of ML algorithms: Regression, Classification, Clustering, Deep Learning, NLP, LLMs, Time-series
- Experience with SOA LLM frameworks and deployment ( Azure OpenAI, Meta LLAMA, etc.)
- Skills in prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Proficiency with production deployment, observability, and monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- Domain experience in smart buildings and energy optimization
- Working knowledge of Azure Cloud
