Overview
The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking a highly energetic individual with expertise in software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML). The role involves supporting the Applied AI team across a diverse project portfolio focused on rapid innovation and deployment.
Team Focus
- Exploit small, agile teams for rapid iteration
- Transition solutions from prototypes to production
- Deliver solutions across the enterprise and in the field
Responsibilities
- Develop AI-driven technologies and products for customer capabilities
- Engage in all system development lifecycle phases:
- Requirements generation
- System and software design
- Implementation and integration
- Deployment
- Focus on low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research, prototypes, and demonstrations
- Transition research into production, including integration and deployment
- Employ current AI paradigms such as:
- Computer Vision
- Deep Learning
- Reinforcement Learning

- Work on innovative solutions to complex problems
- Support research-to-production workflows
- Utilize programming in a collaborative environment
Location & Schedule
- Hybrid schedule at LAIC Headquarters, Shelton, CT
- Possible remote work
- Typical schedule: 4x10 hour days with 3 days off per week
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related
- Experience with ML frameworks
- Proficiency with Python and libraries like NumPy, PyTorch, OpenCV, Scikit, Pandas
- Familiarity with classical Computer Vision techniques
- Experience with modern CV or autonomy research
- Ability to apply research to real-world problems
- US Citizenship
- Knowledge of socket programming with TCP/UDP
Desired Skills
- Master’s Degree in related fields
- Published papers in scientific domains
- Linux application development experience
- DevOps tools: Docker, Git, CI/CD
- Hardware-accelerated computing (CUDA, Intel oneAPI, SYCL)
- Deployment libraries: NVIDIA TensorRT, Triton, ONNX
- AI systems deployment across cloud and edge
- Network programming (gRPC, Kafka, ActiveMQ, etc.)
- Programming in C++, C, Go, Rust, or similar
- High-performance computing familiarity
